I made this very simple striped quilt a few years back for my little girl. It by no means shows great skill, as I have very little when it comes to "real" quilting but I love that the glory of it is really all in the fabrics. There is also something about the simplicity of a pattern, showcasing such pretty prints that I really enjoy. This also happens to be a fairly quick project as well. I splurged a bit and included a few Liberty of London prints which are almost always, in my opinion, absolutely lovely. I'm hoping to try out some bigger ones for my little men in the near future. I think it will be fun to play around with some more masculine fabrics this time.

DIY - Wool Pom Pom Garland
I love these little bits of colorful wool pom poms! I had a lot of fun making them into garland for my boys' room. I think they go along nicely with their strand of pine cones.
I used the biggest needle I had, packaging twine from the dollar section at Target, wool pom poms from Amazon and a pare of pliers. The pliars made pulling the needle through the dense wool super easy.
And the end result, a lovely strand of rainbow color!

Ascending Gallery Wall
I happen to have at least one too many gallery walls in our home. In fact, there is one in pretty much every room of the house. This is likely a bit excessive but I enjoy each of them so much that I haven't made much of an effort to change things. I particularly like the ascending gallery wall for a few reasons. First, it allows the gallery to grow without having to reposition everything, so that if I happen to fall in love with a $5 thrifted painting, I can easily make my gallery ascend or descend just a little bit more to fit it in.
Second, it is been a fun and affordable way to fill a large area with layers of color and texture. Lastly, I find arrangements with odd positions to be rather whimsical. I used to make sure all my pictures were placed in perfect harmony, equal space one from the other, equal frame sizes etc. With an ascending gallery the items can be hung "free hand" without measuring and leveling and in my opinion the imperfection adds to the interest.

Empty Wall Space
When we moved into our apartment space with big blank walls and little furniture to fill the space I had to be a little bit creative with what we had. I had found this lovely Anthropologie wrapping paper some time before, hoping to be able to one day get some big frames to showcase it's fun pops of color.....but finally decided to forgo the frames and simply pin them to the way. Initially I thought this would just be a temporary fix to my craving for color but after two and a half years I still love this random splash of joy! The wool pom pom garland came a bit later, as did the beautiful TrueCotton Thanksgiving cards.
It's always fun to see how decor can evolve over time. In my case this often arises out of a tight budget and the need to make our space feel like home.
