Ascending Gallery Wall

I happen to have at least one too many gallery walls in our home. In fact, there is one in pretty much every room of the house. This is likely a bit excessive but I enjoy each of them so much that I haven't made much of an effort to change things. I particularly like the ascending gallery wall for a few reasons. First, it allows the gallery to grow without having to reposition everything, so that if I happen to fall in love with a $5 thrifted painting, I can easily make my gallery ascend or descend just a little bit more to fit it in.
Second, it is been a fun and affordable way to fill a large area with layers of color and texture. Lastly, I find arrangements with odd positions to be rather whimsical. I used to make sure all my pictures were placed in perfect harmony, equal space one from the other, equal frame sizes etc. With an ascending gallery the items can be hung "free hand" without measuring and leveling and in my opinion the imperfection adds to the interest.
